ONLINE MULTIPLAYER & GAME OVERHAUL

It's been a while since an update, hasn't it?

ONLINE MULTIPLAYER

I have been working on implementing online multiplayer into fistblitz! This is a very exciting new direction for the game, but it also requires a full system rewrite, as I am using Photon Quantum, which is essentially a different engine on top of unity. This is a very robust online multiplayer system, which allows me to easily write deterministic code that has rollback enabled by default! As such, games should feel buttery smooth to play when it becomes available.


CHARACTER REDESIGNS

ALL
the characters have to be reanimated to fit this new system. As much of a slog as this will be for me, it will be worth it, as it allows me to create more tight frame data. A main complaint was that most of the moves felt very slow and samey. As such this new animation rewrite will help fix that. The older characters will be receiving a bit of a facelift as well! Mainly surgeon and fighter, who is now going to be called the BRAWLER. I think this sounds cooler.

SYSTEM CHANGES
Hits will now start hitstop for the attacker, which was not a thing before. Also, grabs will no longer do AOE damage only, as it led to the grabbed character not taking damage in some cases. This damage will be applied directly to the opponent instead.

Its still early so I don't have any builds for you yet, but I hope you will be there for the release! I plan to release the next version as a 1.0.
